PERFECT TENSE and PRESENT TENSE

PERFECT TENSE

  • ER - Remove -er, Add e with accent (e.g. Jouer - (J'ai joue)
  • IR - Remove -r (e.g. Finir - (J'ai fini)
  • RE - Remove -re. Add -u (e.g. Vendre - (j'ai vendu)

PRESENT TENSE

  • Take off the ER, IR OR RE ENDING AND INCLUDE THESE ENDINGS:
  • ER - e, es, e, ons, ez, ent
  • IR - is, is, it, issons, issez, issent
  • RE - s, s, -, ons, ez, ent

IMPERFECT AND CONDITIONAL

IMPERFECT -  "was doing" or "used to"

CONDITIONAL - To express an event that is not guaranteed to occur

BOTH,         AIS, AIS, AIT, IONS, IEZ, AIENT

SIMPLE FUTURE

  • Ai, As, A, Ons, Ez, Ont
  • Irregular Stems (etre - (ser-)     (venir - viendr)       (devoir - devr)           (avoir - aur)           (savoir - saur-)         (pouvoir - pourr)         (faire - fer)          (aller - ir)           (voir - verr-)

NEAR FUTURE TENSE

  • Pronoun + vais/vas/va/allons/allez/vont + infinitive
  • e.g. Je vais jouer = I'm going to play
  • e.g. Tu vas finir = you are going to finish
