The Frankfurt Parliament - March 1848

  • group of enthusiasts, mainly acedemics, revoloved at a meeting to summon a prelimintary parliament which would supervise elections to a german representative assembly
  • Situated in Frankfurt
  • universal male suffrage and proportional representation
  • elected by middle-classes
    • 'the revolution of intellectuals' - Lewis Namier
  • only one person drom the 830 delegates was from a truly peasant background
    • not representative of the whole of germany
    • upper and working class were not represented well
