About Jack:

• Jack is leader of the choir/can sing a C Sharp

• Has red hair /thin and bony
• He is proud and arrogent
• He craves power
• creates his own tribe even though he lost the vote for chief
• he becomes a dictator
• Only thinks of hunting
• Changes his appearence (acts like a savage/looks like a savage)
• He says at the begining "we are not savages" but by the end civilisation is destroyed

• He is very intelligent
• his realises that no adults are on the island

•  We never know his real name/embarrassed by his nickname
• He is kind and considerate to the littluns
• He is the most mature
• He is pragmatic= When simon dies he says they had nothing to do with it.
• Like Ralph, he believes in civilised society/clings to what creates order
• shouts "I got the conch!" to try to show Jack that he has a right to be heard.
• Piggy and the conch are destroyed together = intelligence and the symbol of authority are dead
• Ralph weeps when his only true friend piggy dies.

How does the way Eddie speaks affect the audience?

The way Eddie speaks does not endear the audience ot him.

TIGAP

Threat - They are ilegal workers 'Where's his papers, who is he?' they could be caught

Insult - they're wives are chating on them and having babies with other men - 'I betcha there's plenty surprises' ie babies

Guilt - they shouldn't be enjoying themselves, they're here to work. 'I understood, Marco, you was both comin' to make a living, for your family'

Accusing - Accuses Rodolfo of usign Catherine, 'You wouldn't just drag off some girl without permission' She was never out on the stret 12 o'clock at night until you came'

Patronising - 'Look kid'
