Gender in church

Many people think that the Christian Church is sexist. It does not treat men and women equally.

The teaching of St Paul is often quoted to support the way some churches today treat women. it would seem that he believed that the role of women was different to that of men, and secondary to it.

Quotes such as:''Women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak'' would show that churches would not acsept gender equality in the church. other quotes such as ''Now I want you to realise that the head of every man is Christ, and the head of the woman is man, and the head of Christ is God.'' can also suggest this

however, jesus always showed respect to women and valuded women. Recently the church have allowed women to become priests which caused contravery in the christian community. on the one side it is a good because it is helping gender equality and following jesus's footsteps and helping women have a say in the christian community. however, some christians believe that this could be changing the traditional beliefs and teachings. this is a heated debate with in the christian community and the way the world communitys are changing with Gay rights and anti racism campagins becoming very sucsessful before we know it christianty can be taking a big step forward for womens rights.

Homosexuality in church

Within Christianity there is a variety of views on the issues of homosexuality. The many Christian denominations vary in their position, from condemning homosexual acts as sinful, through being divided on the issue, to seeing it as morally acceptable. Even within a denomination, individuals and groups may hold different views. Further, not all members of a denomination necessarily support their church's views on homosexuality.

Historically, from the earliest days, Christians have taught that same-sex acts are gravely sinful. however due to recent campaigns homosexuality has been acsepted by millions of people across the world, some of which are christians.

opinions on race in christianity

Christianity teaches that everyone is equal in the eyes of God. Therefore there is no reason to treat people differently.

Christian teaching about other people is based on love and this is stated by Jesus:''I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another.'' this means that god wants you to love one another regaredless of the way they look, no mater what.

another good quote to use for anti racism in the church is ''You shall love your neighbour as yourself.'' this translated means 'you should love others like you love yourself'. this is a good quote because it is simple and easy to rememeber.
