Environmental                                                                                                                                Since 2000, no plastic bottles allowed on trail.                                                                                $50 each to go on Inca Trail which goes towards upkeep of trail.

Negative Impacts:

Social                                                                                                                                                  Local villagers are who are employed as porters are not treated well as they are not paid enough and made to carry too much.                                                                                                             The locals also want to dress like western visitors and not in their native clothes

Economic                                                                                                                                         Hotels at the entrance and the train is owned by Orient-Express Hotels group which are based in Bermuda, so a lot of profit leaves the country.                                                                                The most highly paid jobs are done by foreigners.

Environmental                                                                                                                                  Grarbage is thrown into the rivers or left close to the trail.                                                        Erosion is begginging to occur on the Inca Trail due to the pressure of 500 tourists a day.                                                                                                                                                        Park wardens dump the rubbish into an open pit.                                                                       Visual pollution is created by tourists in bright coats.
