C1.1 The Particle Model

In a physical change the particles are the same but the arrangement of them and their movement changes. These changes are reversible.

In a chemical change the particles break up and then join together in different way. These changes are irreversible.

The particle model does not show the:

• intermolecular forces between the particles.
• sizes of the particles.
• space between the particles.
