EvaluationOverall language games takes a different view to religion than other philosophical views. With reference to Wittegnstein's langugae games this provides a new way of thinking and one that is coherent and valuable. This is because applying this theory to everyday life is very true, for example, the terminology used in a football game will be confusing to someone who has never watched or taken an interest into football before. There seems to be more strengths than weaknesses to this theory, however it could be argued that validity or reliblity of this approach depends on the views of those who come across it, for exampke atheists are less like to support Wittgenstein because they don't understand the different way of seeing language than a religious individual will (this may link to category mistake). |
