	At first he is introduced to show how awful Darcy was (in Elizabeth's eyes) compared to the honest and gentlemanly Wickham. He is presented as a victim, and paints Darcy to be a true villain. Wickham's greed is shown when he loses interest in Elizabeth in favour of a richer girl, although it is dismissed by her, as well as everyone's warning of his dishonesty As the truth comes out, it is revealed that Wickham is deceptive and avaricious, and Darcy was in fact the victim in their relationship. Wickham is revealed to be truly money-driven and malicious when he uses Lydia to extort money from the Bennets and Mr Darcy
