TYPES OF FARMING (INTENSIVE)

Advantages

  • more for your money (more meat so cheaper for humans as consumers
  • gives animals more focus on putting energy to growing (maintain the surroundings heat and the small space animals live in help reduce movement)
  • bigger eggs
  • cheaper for the owner

Disadvantages

  • CRUEL
  • stressful for animals
  • don't behave naturally, legs may break due to excess weight gain
  • use of growth hormones and steroids
  • debeaking and claustrophobic conditions make for more illness and possible spreading of disease

Evaluation

It is cruel to animals but necessary if humans want the best quality food for cheaper prices. This can amount to unnecessary stress for the animals, and they are debeaked at a young age, but it is better for the owner (more money for bigger eggs and meat) to own an intensive farm. Therefore I think that it is beneficial but some guidelines as to the conditions should be put into place
