Tchaikovsky's life
The Romantic Period of music: 1830-1910.
Tchaikovsky took the Russian folk tunes favoured by the Russian nationalist composer, but he did something else with them, infusing them with other influences from across Europe.
Tchaikovsky lead a tortured life, principally because of his homosexuality, and he died in mysterious circumstances. He himself said, 'Truly there would be reason to go madif it were not for music.'
