Strengths and weaknesses of Aragon

Advantages

Farming and trade were the biggest industries
Jews and Muslims were more likely to hold prominent positions
Valencia was in resurgence
4 political houses

Disadvantages

Monarchs were rarely seen
Small population (1 million)
Monarchs could not make laws without the consent from the Cortes
Couldn't be religiously united as there were 4 religions; Christians, Jews, Moriscos and Moors
Weak nobility and dominant knights
Barcelona was in decline

Evaluation

Aragon was a weak state and was using the marriage between Ferdinand and Isabella to gain them more stability and an ally that geographically was the largest in the Iberian Peninsula at the time.
