Evaluation

Although Austen often pokes fun at society as a whole (rather implicitly), she shows a certain level of respect for it, and certainly doesn't make it an obstacle. People's own traits and reactions to society are what cause problems rather than society itself. She seems to accept that society is the way it is and that the answer is to adapt to it rather than blame it.
