        • "blind" stative verb This gift also bears a warning which conveys the idea that this relationship may occasionally cause pain.

        • "wobbling" dynamic verb-  emphasises vulnerability and the danger people exposes themselves too, which then sudmit wholly and completely to a romantic relationship and reminds us of its destructive potential.

        • full stop signifies a pause as the speaker awaits for the gift to be received.
      • "It's fierce kiss will stay on your lips"
        • "lips" darker negetive associations. Metaphorical language.

        • Juxtaposition- Positive connatations of a trusting relationship.

      • "Take it"
        • Imperative: shows the speaker is becoming more insistent.
      • "lethal"
        • The speaker reminds us that traditional romantic relationships usually end up in marriage, however it is considered to be similar to al long death
      • "it's sent will cling to your fingers, cling to your knife"
        • brutal and violent- a knife can slice through an onion just like honest language can incisively reveal the truth over a long term relationship.
      • "It's platinum loops shrink to a wedding-ring
        • Duffy compares the creamy white rings of the onion with the precious metal platinum loops of a wedding which over time will shrink (like the onion itself)
