- Tissues
- During the development of mutlicellular organisms, the cells differenciate. A tissue is a group of cells with a similar structure and function
- Animal tissues
- muscle tissue which can contract to bring about movement
- glandular tissue, to produce substances such as enzymes or hormones
- epithelial tissue, which covers some parts of the body
- Plant tissues
- epidermal tissue which covers the plant
- mesophyll which can photosynthesise
- xylem and phloem which transport substances around the plant
- Organs
- Organs are made of tissues
- The stomach (which is an organ) is made up of:
- muscular tissue to churn the stomach contents
- glandular tissue to produce the digestive juices
- epithelial tissue to cover the outsde and the inside of the stomach
- The leaf, stem and root are plant organs whcih contain epidermal tissue, mesophyll, xylem and phloem.
- Groups of organs form organ systems to perform a particular function
- The digestivesystem has several organs, including the small intestine
