    • 2.4 HUMAN RELATIONSHIPS

      • children will also have a Christian faith

        • love for each other is enough to show their commitment
        • CofE - only if it will lead to marriage (gives an insight into married life)
        • RCC - sinful
        • non-religious = accept it
          • marriage = expensive
          • divorce rates = high
          • easier if relationship breaks down / is unsuccessful than than applying for a divorce
      • civil partnerships + same-sex marriages
        • CofE = homosexuality is not a sin
          • ministers can not carry out same-sex marriages
            • its own clergy are not allowed to enter into sexually active relationships outside of marriage
        • sex acts are sinful outside of marriage + same-sex
    • 2.6 DIVORCE AND REMARRIAGE
      • 'I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for marital unfaithfulness, and marries another woman commits adultery.' - Matthew 19:9
      • RCC - divorce not recognised
        • only if one partner dies / annulment
          • civil divorce may be granted, marriage will continue in the eyes of God
            • no remarrying
              • they made an everlasting covenant in the church during the original marriage ceremony
          • annulment = if marriage is shown to be not 'valid'
        • try to solve problems in marriage in an effort to try and avoid divorce
      • CofE - only if marriage has broken down and cannot be repaired
        • can remarry
        • work through problems
          • counselling + group support
      • impact
        • lack of stability for children
          • make them feel responsible for the breakdown
        • society
          • take time off work
            • strain on both individuals emotionally + financially
              • causes greater poverty
    • 2.7 FAMILY STRUCTURES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
      • types
        • nuclear

        • single parent
        • same-sex
      • family life
        • members should support each other through difficult times + celebrate special events
        • responsibility towards elderly/sick members
        • bring up children to follow Christian faith + teach values of love and forgiveness
        • local churches - provide support through youth groups + access to parenting courses + act as a community
        • 'But if anyone does not take care of his relatives, especially the members of his own family, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever' - 1 Timothy 5:8

          • 'Parents, do not treat your children in such a way as to make them angry. Instead, bring them up with a Christian discipline and instruction' - Ephesians 6:4
    • 2.8 CHILDNESS AND CELIBACY

      • chasity - true love waits
        • no sexual relationships before marriage
      • contraception
        • purpose of sex is to procreate
          • interferes with God's plans
          • RCC - sex= way of showing true love, through this expression of love God works to create new life
      • 'you created evry part of me; you put me together in my mother's womb'- Psalm 139:13
