- Once Ebert was elected president , This revolution was hated by Ebert and other SPD politicians, this was because the Bolshevik revolution in Russia had brought chaos and a bloody civil war.
- Caused a left wing uprising, this was led by Karl Liebcknecht and Rosa Luxembourg. This was the spartacist uprising, they wanted a communist Germany. They later became the KDP (Communist Party) The SPD dealt with the uprising by employing the Freikorps in 1919
- Center Party and The German Democratic Party (DDP) joined to form a coalition party and created the SDP.
