  • Momentum
    • when a force acts on an object it changes its momentum
    • momentum has a SIZE  and     <--direction-->
    • calculation for momentum:       p = m x v
      • momentum (kgm/s)  = mass (kg )x velocity(m/s)
    • Conservation of Momentum
      • if objects collide then the total momentum before the collision will be equal to the total momentum after the collision
      • P1 = P2
    • A LARGE force causes a LARGE damage in momentum
      • if a momentum changes very quickly the force will be very LARGE
        • the longer it takes for a change in momentum, the smaller the force.
