- 1) ELECTROPHILIC SUBSTITUTION
- This involves the addition of a haloalkane to NH3. The haloalkane loses the halogen and replaces the H on ammonia.
- If the haloalkane is in excess then a quarternary amine is formed If the NH3 is in excess then a primary amine is only formed
