- William had his own forces occupying London. They remained until 1690.

- Whigs argued that James had 'broken the fundamental laws of the constitution' and forfeited the throne.
- Tories argued James was only incapacitated. And William and Mary should rule as regents.
- William said in a secret meeting that he would go back to Holland unless he was made King.
- Lords agreed with 2 conditions:
- 1) His wife Mary would share the title as monarch although without the power.
- 2) If Mary died and William married again, any children from his second marriage would be behind Mary's sister in the line of succession.
- These were confirmed and agreed on 8th February.
