- Glacial Moraines
- End Moraines
- deposited at end of glacier (snout)
- any debris pushed along or trapped in galcier is dropped as ice melts
- Lateral Moraine
- deposited at sides of glacier
- this material has accumulated on top of glacier from weathering of surrounding valleys
- Medial Moraine
- deposited in the middle of a glacier
- or where 2 glaciers have joined
- Terminal Moraine
- A terminal moraine is a moraine ridge that marks the maximum limit of a glacier advance
- They form at the glacier terminus and mirror the shape of the ice margin at the time of deposition.
- Recessional Moraine
- mark the retreat of a glacier
- Each recessional moraine marks the stage when the glacier retreat was stopped long enough for the glacier to deposit its load.
