      • Such as Monosodium glutamate
        • used to give mor eintense flavour to food
          • such as meat, ready meals and cook-in sauces
      • sweeteners such as saccharin
        • Give a sweeter flavour than suger
          • used in 'sugar free' products
    • Emulsifiers
      • Used to mix oil and water together in a stable solution to prevent separation
        • Used in mayonnaise , salad dressings and low fat spreads
    • Stabilisers
      • Similar to emulsifiers, used to prevent separation
        • used in cook-in sauces and yogurts
  • these are used to add flavour to products
    • Such as ice cream, chocolate mouse, yogurts, crisps and soft drinks
