      • Evocative verb- a doing word that sounds particularly active
      • Allusion- a reference to a widely known story or figure
      • Allegory- a story, poem or picture with a hidden meaning, often moral or political
      • Didactic- intended to teach the readers something

      • half rhyme- when the final consonant rhymes but not the final vowel
      • Syntactic Parallelism- repetition of a sentence structure
      • Anaphora- repetition at the start of the line
      • Zooming in when a narrator focuses in on a particular character
        • panning out- when the writer moves out to look at the situation as a whole
      • flashback (analeptic response)- when the writer changes time moving to the past
      • Integral setting- setting that is essential to the plot or story
      • Hyperbolic language- exaggerated language

      • Incongruent- when something doesn't make sense at all
      • Ambiguity- when something has an unclear meaning
      • Oxymoron- when two opposing terms are put together
      • Juxtaposition-when two or more ideas are put near each other
      • Paradox- a contradictory statement or proposition

      • Triadic listing- group of three
      • Asyndetic listing-  lists with commas
      • Syndetic listing- lists with connectives
      • Hypophora- when the speaker asks a question and answers it themselves
      • rhetorical question- a question not expected to be answered
