- Chemical Equations
- Balanced symbol equations show the atoms at the start (the reactant atoms) and the atoms at the end (the product atoms) and how they're arranged:
- Sodium + chlorine = sodium chloride
- 2Na(s) + Cl2(g) = 2NaCl(s)
- Sodium + chlorine = sodium chloride
- You balance the equation by putting numbers in front of the formulas where needed
- Na(s) + H20(l) = NaOH(aq) = H29g0
- There must be the same number of atoms on both sides
- You can't change formulas like H20 to H30. You can only put numbers in front of them.
