- Acids and Bases
- Acid: Releases H+ ions in aqueous solution.
- Nitric Acid: NH3
- Sulphuric Acid: H2SO4
- Phosphoric Acid: H3PO4
- Ethanoic Acid: CH3COOH
- Hydrochloric Acid: HCl
- Bases: H+ acceptor, oxides or metal hydroxides
- Acid + Base = Salt + Water
- Salt: Chemical compound formed when the H+ ion from an acid is replaced with a metal ion or NH4
- Example: H2SO4 (aq) + CaO (aq) = CaSO4 (aq) + H2O
- Alkali: Soluble base that reacts with water to produce OH- ions in solution
- Acid: Releases H+ ions in aqueous solution.
